Yellowstone fans have been reeling over the recent news surrounding the Paramount series. There have been accusations that Kevin Costner has been holding up the series.

Now, his attorney is speaking out for the actor, who portrays John Dutton. Dutton is the patriarch of the largest ranch in Montana. What does this litigator have to say about the recent Golden Globe-winning actor? Read on for more details.

Is Kevin Costner Holding Up Yellowstone Production?

Just two weeks ago, unexpected rumors at the Yellowstone set were flying. There was reported chaos because Kevin Costner was allegedly unable and unwilling to film more than a week of the series. More so, there was news that there was a standstill, and nothing was happening with filming new episodes. There was talk that Season 5 would be the end of the Paramount series. Additionally, this has caused “morale problems” with the remainder of the cast.

According to US Weekly, which reported on the response of Kevin Costner’s lawyer, Marty Singer, to Puck.News, these are lies. “The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of season 5 of Yellowstone is an absolute lie.”

It’s ridiculous — and anyone suggesting it shouldn’t be believed for one second. As everyone who knows anything about Kevin is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone way above and beyond to ensure its success.

One thing that does seem to agree with Paramount and Costner is that the 68-year-old star is key to the success of the show. The rep for the network shared that Costner was “a key component of the success of our Yellowstone series.” But, they did end the statement with an ominous threat, “and we hope that continues from here on out.

But, Marty Singer did not fully address the amount of time Costner is willing to film. There is a big difference between passion and actions in the past and what is happening on set right now.

Will Matthew McConaughey Replace Kevin Costner?

Already, it seems that Taylor Sheridan and Paramount have a contingency plan. There are talks that Matthew McConaughey is joining a different version of the series. He would not be replacing Costner’s character but joining another branch of the series with many of the familiar cast members joining him in another Yellowstone vehicle.

The Paramount spokesperson stated, “Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.”

However, neither McConaughey nor Paramount has said anything more about this possibility. But, this news has been the center of a lot of debate.

When Will Yellowstone Come Back?

Right now, the biggest losers are the fans. The first part of Yellowstone Season 5 aired on New Year’s Day. When will the remaining six episodes air?

Unfortunately, Taylor Sheridan and company have not yet filmed those final six episodes. Moreover, the publication revealed that rumors are they will shoot them in the summer and fall, and premiere the final episodes in November.

Also, the initial count of total Season 5 episodes was 14, including the IMDb listing. Now, there are rumors that there will be 16 episodes. Hopefully, Paramount will officially address this discrepancy as well.

Lastly, will Yellowstone end with Season 5? That remains unclear.

What we seem to be is watching a standoff between Paramount and Taylor Sheridan, and Kevin Costner. Right now, they seem to be on opposing sides, something that Yellowstone fans don’t want to see.

Stay tuned, as this drama is far from over.
