Bettie Jo Elmore made a drastic change after leaving My 600-Lb. Life
When Bettie Jo Elmore appeared on My 600-Lb. Life, she and her partner Josh were in a difficult position. Although they loved each other, Josh became more of a caregiver for Bettie Jo instead of a partner. On top of that, there was a lot of insecurity in the relationship.
Josh was terrified that Bettie Jo would abandon him if she lost weight and could take care of herself. Fortunately, they started therapy to address these issues.
Bettie Jo knew it was time to take charge of her health, both physically and mentally.
With Dr. Now’s help, the Season 3 guest managed to lose several hundred pounds. Today, it appears that she and Josh are still together and have two children.
But what happened after the cameras stopped rolling?
Thankfully, it seems like Bettie Jo is still on the right track after eight years. She recently shared an update on Instagram revealing that skin surgery is in her future.
“Down 10 more pounds 30 if that to go then gonna make skin surgeon appointment! Getting nervous/ excited!” the TLC personality updated fans on Instagram this week.
She uploaded a selfie instead of a full-body photo, but it’s instantly clear that she’s lost a lot of weight just by looking at her face. Fans happily congratulated Bettie Jo and told her how proud they were of her progress.
“I have been following your story since your first appearance on the TV show and I had to say you look so amazing! Congratulations on your success and beautiful family!” one of Bettie Jo’s followers wrote in the comments.

Although My 600-Lb. Life remains one of the most popular shows on TLC, there have actually been quite a few complaints issued against the series. The production company, Megalomedia, is actually facing several lawsuits.
What many fans might not realize is that Dr. Now’s son Jonathan is actually the owner of the company. It’s not immediately clear what will happen with the lawsuits, but it’s clear that My 600-Lb. Life is a family business. Ramifications will definitely impact Dr. Now too, in some shape or form.
