Gil Bates reveals his true colors.

On Instagram, YouTuber Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball shared a clip of Gil Bates speaking at an IBLP conference this week. In the video, Gil said some interesting things about husbands being unfaithful in their marriages. He said:

“You know why the guy runs off with the secretary? He’s got a beautiful wife and he’s got an ugly secretary. It’s not because of physical attraction. It’s because sometimes she treats him with respect. And he comes home and he feels he gets no respect.”

He went on to say that respect “turns a key in a man’s heart” and encourages him to protect and love his wife.

You can watch the video below. Katie Joy interpreted this clip as Gil blaming wives for their husbands’ infidelity. She also pointed out this could explain why Anna Duggar, who is also a part of the IBLP, hasn’t left Josh.

  1. this is not the whole sermon. everyone takes an insert of a little piece of the sermon to get things started. I would like to hear the whole sermon before you judge.

  2. It could be that he has cheated and his guilt is causing him to find blame in Kelly! Either way that strict religious upbringing will come back to bite these parents in the butt when their children are grown and start to think for themselves. Look at the Duggar family…they have driven a wedge between themselves and their children because of their cultish beliefs!

  3. Respect goes 2 ways, for each other. It’s not only about the man. He needs to respect his wife and uplift her in everything she does. Some men just constantly put their wife down and look for fault so they can feel blameless for their sin! So if the man is suppose to be head of the home then he should respect his wife then she will in turn respect him! You will get out of something what you put into it. Put in zero, get zero!
