Katie Couric could replace Amy Robach on GMA3: What You Need to Know. Insiders say the former Today Show co-anchor could bring the star power that the morning show needs. Keep on reading to learn more.

GMA execs look to Today Show

According to a new report, GMA execs are looking to hire Katie Couric. They believe she’s the perfect woman to replace Amy Robach, who was fired in January 2023. This came on the heels of her affair with co-host TJ Holmes. Execs feel that Katie would be a safe bet.

An insider told The U.S. Sun that Good Morning America is looking to add “star power” to its current lineup. They’re still looking for a full-time replacement for the seats previously frequented by Amy Robach and TJ. They were the network’s golden pair and famous faces of the network.

“ABC is in talks with Katie Couric,” an insider told The U.S. Sun. “They are out to other notable anchors as well. They are looking for a big name.”

Katie Couric was the face of the Today Show. She left the morning show in 2006 and became the face of Evening News on CBS. She had a long-running role with the network. Katie eventually left and joined Yahoo! News, which was an interesting career change.

Insiders want to find the right face for their show. They’re not looking for any other talent at this current time. Rather, ABC just wants to find one face who will bring viewers in. They reportedly reached out to Ryan Seacrest, who left LIVE! earlier this month.

“They won’t hire a male or female co-host until they have the main anchor in place, because whoever it is will have a hand in choosing their partner,” the insider told The U.S. Sun.

Amy Robach fired

Currently, Dr. Jen Ashton is the only original co-host on GMA3. Her fellow co-hosts TJ and Amy Robach got the boot after the news of their six-month affair. In late November 2022, news leaked about their various sightings throughout New York.

Gio Benitez and Rhiannon Ally previously joined GMA3 as fill-in co-hosts. The producers are still looking to fill the empty seats. They’ve had fill-ins ever since Amy Robach and TJ were pulled from the air in early December 2022. So far, ABC hasn’t made an announcement about their replacements. Fans have fallen in love with the fill-ins and wish that GMA would promote them.
