The Star Wars universe continues to expand with a fan-favorite character finally getting her own solo series. That character, of course, is Ahsoka Tano. The popular Clone Wars character finally made her live-action debut in Season 2 of The Mandalorian. It wasn’t long after that first appearance that fans got the announcement of her own series coming at some point. It’s all been a waiting game since then, wondering about any news for Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan.
That news is finally here with the release of the first teaser trailer for Ahsoka on Disney+. Fans finally have a first look at the show, its story, and the release window.
Ahsoka
The spin-off series will follow the character after the events of The Mandalorian Season 2. The trailer came out just recently and has already naturally been making the rounds through social media. Sci-fi nerds everywhere are picking apart some of the finer details of the trailer to find out what might be coming.
D23 gave a brief synopsis of what the story for this show will be.
“Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.”
It doesn’t give very much, but still, it has led many to speculate about what exactly is the threat being referred to in the summary. The theories mostly involve characters that viewers who aren’t familiar with the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series likely won’t know. One who gets a brief shoutout from Ahsoka in The Mandalorian S2 is General Thrawn. It seems very likely that Thrawn will be coming up at least once in the 8 episodes of Ahsoka.
For any readers unfamiliar, Ahsoka Tano got her start on the animated show before coming to The Mandalorian. Star Wars: The Clone Wars was a very popular animation that fills in the gaps around Episodes 2 and 3 of the movies throughout its 7 seasons. It’s a cult favorite in the Star Wars community, and Ahsoka Tano is a big part of that love. The result is high hopes for her live-action debut.
Star Wars On Disney+
The world of Star Wars just continues to expand on Disney+. Ahsoka is just one of several shows that are coming to the massive streaming service in 2023. The Mandalorian Season 3 is still ongoing and is bringing its characters into the fold of the larger Star Wars story like never before. Star Wars Visions is also getting its second season soon. That will be coming on Star Wars Day, AKA May 4th, a little less than a month away. Another show with the title Skeleton Crew should also be arriving sometime in 2023.
Ahsoka is coming to Disney+ this August.
