The Mandalorian Season 3 premiere is coming up fast with a release date of March 1st. Ahead of that premiere, Pedro Pascal, who plays the lead character Din Djarin, has been doing a press run. He’s been all over the news in 2023 thus far between this show and simultaneously the wildly popular The Last Of Us. So there are a lot of people with a lot of questions for him. A classic question for anyone who gets to wear an iconic costume or mask for a role is “can you see/breathe in that thing?” The vast majority of the time the answer is no. It doesn’t appear as if playing a Mandalorian is any exception to this.

Pedro “Can’t See Sh!t” Pascal

The question of Pascal’s dexterity in his Mandalorian “work uniform” came in a recent Empire interview. In the interview, the star of the show has both great and terrible things to say about donning the armor.

“It’s ironic that you can’t see any facial expression because it puts you in the world so completely, and instantly makes the character feel real. But you can’t see s#!t,” Pedro laughs about in the interview.

In the same article, Pedro laments that the helmet greatly impairs his vision. On top of that, he said the armor feels like a “head-to-toe glove with weights on it”. Doesn’t sound like as much fun as it looks.

He’s far from the first Star Wars actor to have trouble in his suit, too. Peter Mayhew and Anthony Daniels, the original actors for Chewbacca and C-3PO respectively, both hated the suits they had to wear in the original trilogy. Daniels said his C-3PO costume didn’t permit him to sit down. Plus he had to wear it in Tunisian weather that exceeded 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Mayhew said anytime the Chewbacca costume got wet it would stink horribly. The woes of Star Wars actors throughout the decades are unending. That’s the price for a universe with so many strange characters.
