Indiana Jones Trailer Shows Indy Alongside Possible Replacement
The fifth Indiana Jones movie comes to theaters in June. Fortunately, the latest trailer for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny shows a lot more about what fans can expect from the movie. It also might be hinting at the future of the Indiana Jones franchise.
Here is what we know about the upcoming Indiana Jones movie.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny new trailer
There have been a few trailers already for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, but the latest one showed some important plot points. The biggest of these was the role of Ferabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge in the movie – and the franchise. Earlier trailers already showed she was Indy’s goddaughter, but not much else.
This new trailer goes into more detail about how she was proactive in stealing a device that can apparently roll back time. Mads Mikkelsen’s (Hannibal) former Nazi bad guy Jürgen Voller also wants it. Meanwhile, it seems Indy is a little confused about what is really going on.
However, this new trailer also showed how the movie has de-aged Harrison Ford, 80, for several scenes with him as Indiana Jones as a younger man. Moreover, this also includes a scene where he basically lets the audience know who Waller-Bridge’s character is.
Who is Phoebe Waller-Bridge in the new Indiana Jones movie?
Phoebe Waller-Bridge is Helena Shaw and her father is an old friend of Indy’s that has never been shown in a previous movie. However, there is a spot in the trailer where Indy talks about his experiences. He mentions voodoo and being shot several times – including once by Helena’s father. After saying that, a scene of Indy getting shot by friendly fire is shown.
Helena Shaw’s father is Basil Shaw, an old friend of Indiana Jones who fought by his side against the Nazis in World War II. Toby Jones players Basil Shaw. Jones has been in TV’s Doctor Who, the MCU’s Captain America movies, and he voiced Dobby in the Harry Potter franchise.
As for Helena, this is likely Harrison Ford’s final go as Indiana Jones in his franchise. At 80, he doesn’t have many more action roles in his future. However, that does not mean the franchise has to end with him. Originally, there were thoughts of his possible son Mutt (Shia LeBeouf) replacing him as the lead. Ultimately, that never panned out.
Now, there are rumors that Waller-Bridge’s Helena could be the new lead for the future of Indiana Jones. As a much more proactive character, based on the trailers, she could be the best bet to keep the adventures alive.

Hollywood needs to stop ruining franchises by try to replace male rolls with women. This will be my last Indiana Jones movie if they recast it with a woman. The same goes for James Bond.
