How Does The Ding Dong Bell Work On ‘The Masked Singer’?
This week on The Masked Singer, the judges used the Ding Dong Keep it On bell for the third time this season. That means there are no more saves for the judges, as they have sent three people on who lost the fan votes.
Here is what is next for those three contestants.
Who has The Masked Singer saved with the Ding Dong bell?
This season, The Masked Singer introduced the Ding Dong Keep it On bell to the competition. After last year, the show is eliminating two people every week on the show, taking away a lot of the fun of seeing singers moving on while fans at home try to guess their identities. That fun was taken away with the new format.
However, the Ding Dong bell has been added to at least let three singers who normally would have had to unmask remain on the show a little while longer. Here is a look at who the judges have saved this season.
In Week 3 of the season, the contestants competed on New York Night. After Grandmaster Flash was unmasked in the first half of the show, Medusa and California Roll competed in the battle royale. During that event, the two sang Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl.” The fans voted for the California Roll (who we think is Pentatonix). However, the judges saved Medusa (who we think is Bishop Briggs).
The next save happened just one week later. In Week 4, Michael Bolton was unmasked as Wolf. More so, Squirrel moved on, only to unmask the next week as Malin Akerman. Finally, the judges saved Gargoyle (who we think is Keenan Allen).
That led to this week’s episode. After Dee Snider took off the mask as Doll, Dandelion won the battle royale. However, the judges saved Mantis and that was the last save of the season.
What happens next for the masked singers?
It was unclear what would happen with the saves this season. While there were some thoughts that they would move on to compete against the winners for each round at the end, that is not what is going to happen.
Instead, the Ding Dong Keep it On bell only saves the three singers and they have to compete against each other. This will be a one-round competition set up like the rest of the season. There will be a special episode where three singers who the fans already met will compete. One will unmask halfway through and the second at the end.
Moreover, only one person the judges saved will move on to the finals competition.
