The wait for Season 3 of Demon Slayer is almost over.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba is well set up to sweep all the attention in the spring anime lineup. It’s one of the most popular anime in the world. Its most recent film, Demon Slayer: To The Swordsmith Village, was a massive hit. It was even competing with major American films like Scream VI at the box office in certain countries. All of this has been leading up to the much-hyped release of Season 3. And, finally, after over a year of waiting since the Season 2 finale, the premiere date is finally here.
The Season 3 Release
Technically speaking, Episode 1 of Season 3 has been out in some form for a while now. It played in theaters alongside the Demon Slayer: To The Swordsmith Village movie, and then subsequently leaked online. So many fans have now seen the premiere episode, but that’s not official. And now there’s an official date on when the first episode will be on streaming, along with the certainty that more episodes are coming.
Crunchyroll has officially given the news that Season 3 will premiere on its platform on April 9th. That is the premiere of just Episode 1 of Season 3. So for any fans who have already seen that episode, it will be another week until the next episode in the season comes to the platform.
For Demon Slayer fans who watch the English dub, the wait will obviously be a little longer. The dub of Season 3, Episode 1 may actually be live on premiere day, considering the English dub already came out along with the American theatrical release. There may be a month-long separation or so between the air dates for Episode 2 onwards and their English dubs.
Demon Slayer
So, how much Demon Slayer is left? The manga has been over for nearly three years, having put out its final volume in May of 2020. There are 23 volumes in total, which may not seem like much for fans who know many anime can blow through anywhere from 4 to even 6 or 7 volumes of a manga in a single season.
Thankfully, there will still be a lot of Demon Slayer to cover once Season 3 is over. The season is only planning on covering volumes 12 through most of 15, the entirety of the Swordsmith Village arc. If the anime continues adapting the manga at this pace then fans could still expect at least another three seasons of the show before its series finale. Rest assured, there’s plenty gorier, sword-slinging action to come.
Demon Slayer Season 3 officially arrives on Crunchyroll in the US a week from today, Sunday, April 9th.
