It’s a sad day for Bachelor Nation fans. Show creator Mike Fleiss has announced his departure from the franchise. Keep reading for what we know so far.

Mike Fleiss leaving The Bachelor

After 20 years, Mike Fleiss has revealed that he will be leaving the Bachelor Franchise behind him TV Line reports. Mike is the founder of the show, so his absence will certainly be noticed by many die-hard fans.

“I want to thank [Warner Bros. Television] and ABC for 21 extraordinary years,” a statement reads about the departure. “They’ve found the perfect creative team for me to entrust The Bachelor franchise and keep this lightning in a bottle bold and moving forward. Let the journey continue.”

This comes just a few years after Chris Harrison, legendary show host, also departed from the franchise. Of course, when Chris left, he was heavily involved in quite a bit of drama. However, Mike is a little different. Unfortunately, the team at ABC has declined to comment, and no reason has been given as to why Mike would leave the show. However, after so long working on the same franchise, it must get a bit exhausting. Perhaps the creator just needs a break.

Mike has also yet to mention or clear up anything about his departure on his Twitter.

Who will take over?

Of course, for now, the Bachelor Nation Franchise is still going strong and will need new people to take over Mike’s spot. Claire Freeland, Jason Ehrlich, and Bennett Graebner will all be working to fill in Mike’s role. Apparently, these three are Bachelor Nation vets and seem to each be some form of director on the show. So, they should be able to fill in for Mike without changing things up too much.

The season finale

Last night, of course, The Bachelor had its season finale, revealing to fans whether Zach Shallcross picked Gabi or Kaity. Ultimately, Zach ended up going for Kaity in an emotional proposal.

“The love I feel for you is something I could never have imagined,” he said to Kaity. “I love you so much. I love you with all my heart, and you’re the face I want to wake up to every morning,” he says. He continues saying “I want to go through life with you and only you. Kaity, I want to be with you forever.”
