‘Deadliest Catch’ Season 19: ‘New Blood,’ And Old Favorites Return [Video]
The Deadliest Catch is back for Season 19. There is nothing deadlier than the Bering Sea, but the crab prices are sky-high. Now, the boats are ready to bring in their haul.
Yet, this season will not be the same. There is some “new blood.” Moreover, there are still up-and-coming crab fishermen who are ready to risk it all.
Also, another addition is the only survivor of one of the most famous boat disasters. Lastly, there is also a deckhand who has ambitions to be the first.
In addition, a fan favorite is returning after nearly a decade away from the Discovery series.
Deadliest Catch Season 19 Returning For Season 19
On Thursday, EW announced Deadliest Catch Season 19. The Discovery series is coming back with some “fresh new faces,” as well as some fan favorites.
Returning is Captain Sig Hansen. Along with his daughter, Captain Mandy Hansen, the two are back on the F/V Northwestern “facing a new threat.”
Next, The Hillstrand brothers are reunited! Andy Hillstrand is back on the F/V Time Bandit. Johnathan, Neal, and Andy have not been on the Discovery series together since 2016.
For the past six years, Andy has been running the family’s other businesses, while Captain John has been manning the ship. Now, the trio is looking for crab, and making a tidy profit. Crab prices have never been better!
New Faces Crab Fishing This Season
There is a cornucopia of new faces in Deadliest Catch Season 19. First, Linda Greenlaw is joining Captain Wild Bill on the F/V Summer Bay. Anyone who saw the George Clooney film, The Perfect Storm, will remember Linda as the only swordfish survivor of that tragedy.
Next, Captain Jake Anderson will have a captain-in-training onboard the F/V Saga. Sophia “Bob” Nielsen is a 23-year-old who is third-generation crabber who just lost both of her parents.
Nielsen is determined to glean all of the knowledge they can from Captain Jake. That is because Neilsen now has their family’s boat, the F/V Victory waiting for them to captain.
On Captain Keith’s boat, the F/V Wizard, deckhand Jacob Hutchins has a grand ambition. He is determined to become the first African-American Bering Sea captain.
How will Keith Colburn deal with this highly ambitious fisherman?
Captain Steve Harley Davidson and newbyJack Bunnell are “going to battle” the F/V Barbara J. This could be quite a battle between the rookie and the veteran.
Lastly, fan-favorite Captain Sean Dwyer is teaming up with Rick Shelford. The two are looking to “create a new legacy” on the ship F/V Aleutian Lady.
