DWTS tour-goers were over the moon to see Mark Ballas perform at the final tour stop. After watching the seasoned DWTS pro dominate the competition alongside Charli D’Amelio last fall, it was a remarkable treat to see him perform live.

However, by the end of the show, many of the audience members were saddened and in tears. Mark Ballas had some tough news to share and it wasn’t easy for many fans to swallow.

There’s some unfortunate news for fans of the reigning champ. Mark Ballas won’t return to Dancing With The Stars as a pro dancer.

He made the announcement during the final tour show this week. Mark hadn’t been on the entire tour but chose to show up on the selected dates where Charli D’Amelio performed.

“I just want to finish this by saying I’ve done 20 seasons now. I was 21, 22 and honestly, being able to dance and perform for you fans, you guys are the best fans. Thank you,” the Season 31 championed shared onstage. “So I just want to finish by saying, this will be the last time you’ll see me dance in this capacity. I’m coming to a close tonight. It’s going to be my last dance.”

The crowd gasped at the news.

“I had the best time ever this season and this freestyle was just a great way to finish it off… Charli means the world to me. The D’Amelio family, you guys mean the world to me. Thank you for everything,” the 36-year-old announced. His time on DWTS may be over, but it won’t be the last time he ever dances. “Thank you, guys, for a lifetime of memories. I’m not saying this is the end. This is just the last time I will be dancing with a partner and I wanted to finish this with Charli. And I appreciate you guys so much.”

Is there going to be a wave of brand-new pros?

Mark Ballas’ appearance in Season 31 was largely unexpected. He’d been apart from the show for quite some time, so it seems like his role was just a one-time deal. But even so, plenty of fans think DWTS will get many new pros in Season 32.

Lindsay Arnold might not be coming back so she can focus on being a full-time mom. Witney Carson is also expecting right now and just revealed that she and her family were moving to Florida. And of course, Cheryl Burke retired at the end of Season 31.

In other words, there will be plenty of empty spots ahead of Season 32. It’s possible the DWTS execs may work with a smaller cast, but fans would love to see new, talented professional dancers step into the ballroom.

    1. He’s just not coming back to the show 🙁 He wanted to officially retire from ‘DWTS’ and wanted to go out on a high note with Charli.
