Pluie is a self-sanitizing changing table for public restrooms. The company made this from innovative technology and a sleek design to give parents safe, healthy, clean, and comfortable changing tables for their babies.
Addie Gundry and Brittany Hizer invented this changing table and arrived on Shark Tank looking for investors.
Addie was a chef in California and New York who actually appeared on The Food Network. She has also authored cookbooks and designed food and beverage products for clients. However, when she had a baby, she learned there were not many sanitary changing tables in public restrooms.
Brittany designed exercise equipment for health clubs and fitness centers. She was also a mother who learned quickly that there was an absence of sanitary places to change a baby’s diapers. Together they designed the Pluie.
The Pluie comes with a patented UV-C light system that kills 99.9% of all germs, viruses, bacteria, and more. It is the same technology that hospitals use to sterilize patient rooms. The system is behind a protection panel and only comes on when it is closed. After each use, it sanitizes the table for 60 seconds. The blue LED light will go off when it finishes.
There is also a non-UV table for restrooms without electricity.
The unit itself has a spring-top opening which is easy to open and close with one hand using stainless steel handles. Additionally, it has a place to hang the diaper bag or purse to keep it off the floor or other dirty surfaces. It has room to hold wipes, ointment, powder, and more. The unit is also leakproof and water-resistant.
Pluie is ADA-compliant and meets the standards for ASTM, CPSIA, FCC, and UL 1431.

For individual use, the Pluie Changing Mat costs $44.99 and comes in cream and navy. This is a folding mat that a parent can carry with them to lay down to change their baby on.
However, for businesses who want to add the Pluie Changing Table to their restrooms, the units sell for $2,899 for the unit with the UV-C Light System. The version without the UV-C Light System runs $1,699.
Pluie won the 2021 Fast Company World Changing Idea award. It also won the 21st Annual Chicago Innovation Awards and was one of TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions. Finally, it won the Wintrust Business Spotlight award, which allowed Addie to throw out the first pitch at a Chicago Cubs baseball game.
