As the Met Gala nears, whispers circulate about the Kardashian-Jenner family being banned from this year’s event. Are the Kardashians being cut from the Met Gala invite list? According to Page Six, in 2022 the Kardashians attended the Met Gala en masse for the first time. Conversely, this year it appears the Met Gala may not have any Kardashians or Jenners in attendance.

Signature Looks

Although the Kardashians have made a large impression at the Met Gala in the past, they may miss this one. It is hard to forget some of the fashion statements that the Kardashians made.  Kim attended the Met Gala for the first time in 2013. She was pregnant with her first child at the time. At the 2021 Met Gala, Kim Kardashian was covered from head to toe, she was dressed in all black including her face. And following the 2022 Met Gala, there was a wave of backlash over Kim Kardashian’s choice to wear the iconic Marilyn Monroe “Happy Birthday” dress.  Allegations of the dress being damaged were reported by Style.

In a similar fashion, Sisters Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian attended the gala for the first time last year. This was the first time the whole family was on the red carpet together. Kris, Kylie, and Kendall Jenner also took part in the event.

Making The Cut

Surprisingly, the Kardashians are not the only past attendees on the chopping block.  Cosmopolitan mentions, “Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour is seriously “cracking down” on the guest list to the exclusive event, meaning the Kar-Jenner fam may not make the cut.”  Similarly, in a list of past attendees banned Perth Now talks about a movement to remove social media stars from the guest list. The article included Emma Chamberlain, James Charles, and Addison Rae as some of the mentionable missing guests.

Dispelling Rumors

“A source familiar with the Kardashian-Jenner clan says it’s not true that the first family of reality TV isn’t invited to the big ball,” noted Page Six Style. The rumors of the family being banned this year were addressed by Khloé Kardashian on Twitter. “Absolutely NOT true,” it stated. To demonstrate her opinion she said, “I have been invited in the past. I just opted not to go,” and continued to justify her lack of interest saying, “I’m not big on red carpets. I think I’ve made that very clear.”

Met Gala 2023

Page Six Style discusses the upcoming event, “The exhibition, called “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” will explore the illustrious designer’s career, which spanned from 1954 to 2019 across multiple high-fashion brands, including Balmain, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel and his own eponymous line.”

The Kardashian-Jenner Family is arguably one of the most famous families. Kardashians not being included at some level for this year’s event is hard to believe. At this point, the claims have not been verified as true.

The Met Gala takes place this year on May 1 with the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.”  To clarify, time will tell if the Kardashians or Jenners will be on the guest list. In the meantime, the world is waiting to see if the Kardashians will be present.
