‘Below Deck Med’: Malia White’s Love Life & Career Update

Is Malia White still dating Jake the Engineer?

Per Distractify, Malia White is no longer dating Jake Baker, aka Jake the Engineer. They ended their relationship on good terms. Malia met Jake while they filmed Season 6 of Below Deck Mediterranean. Jake worked behind the scenes, while Malia was one of the cast members on the show.

She admitted that dating and yachting don’t mix well. It can lead couples to speed up their relationships. Malia realized she needed a relationship that allowed her to set boundaries. It can be hard when you’re living and working in such close quarters.

“So, you’re skipping that whole first stage, which can have pros and cons,” Malia White explained. “In the cons section for a long-term relationship is, it doesn’t set your boundaries or your standards right away because there are none. You’re living in a cabin right next door where you’re sharing a space and there is no like… you can walk me to my door but that’s my boundary. There’s no setting that.”

However, Malia hasn’t ruled out the idea of dating a yachtie. Her best friend and fellow Below Deck Med alum Katie Flood think it wasn’t meant to be. The chief stew says Jake was a “good guy” and they were an “amazing couple.” She feels it just didn’t work out for them.

Collaborating on a new passion project

In the meantime, Katie Flood and Malia White are working on a new passion project. The friends have launched their new podcast, 30 Flirty and Flying. Surprisingly, it’s not about aviation or yachting. Both of them wanted to inspire other women in their 30s to take control of their lives and pursue their dreams.

“We are two women who are in our 30s, and neither of us is in a serious relationship,” Malia White explained. “Neither of us plans to have babies anytime soon. And we want people to know there is another option.”

They want to address the societal pressures women in their 30s feel to get married and have babies. They forgo the traditional lifestyle for a life of passion and fun. For them, that means traveling and focusing on their career. The 30, Flirty and Flying podcast will have influencers and travel experts on how to make it work.

Below Deck Med alum has a major career update

On Monday, January 30, Malia White took to Instagram to share a major career update with her Below Deck family. She shared a photo of herself holding a test that reads “PASS” in one hand and a large glass of Guinness in the other hand.

“It’s official: your last Officer of the Watch!” Malia White wrote in the caption. “Thank you to all those who’ve supported me and helped get me here today… It’s been a stressful studying period but it paid off!”

Captain Sandy Yawn congratulated her, along with Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Captain Glenn Shephard. Katie wrote: “So proud of my partner in crime.” Dave White, Eddie Lucas, Mzi “Zee” Dempers, Natasha Webb, and Storm Smith also congratulated her.
