TLC’s popular bariatric surgeon Dr. Eric Smith schools his followers on obesity asserting that it’s never too late. 1000-Lb. Sisters star Tammy Slaton regularly visits Dr. Smith to seek help for her weight loss. He is often seen warning Tammy of how dangerous her eating habits can be. Dr. Eric Smith Warns Tammy Slaton Of Real Risks
Dr. Eric Smith usually performs robotic bariatric surgery in Kentucky. He spends a major portion of his day working at Georgetown Bariatrics and has been practicing since 2006. To date, the 47-year-old has performed thousands of bariatric procedures on obese patients to help them lose weight and lead a healthy lifestyle. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American College Of Osteopathic Surgeons.

The reality TV doctor is also a member of the American Society Of Metabolic And Bariatric Surgeons. In the teaser video of 1000-Lb. Sisters Season 4, Dr. Smith is seen warning Tammy, “I told you, Tammy, you have real risks.”
Dr. Eric Smith Wants Tammy Slaton To Tackle Her Demons
For the past three seasons, viewers have watched the popular doctor work with Tammy to bring her weight down. He said, “It’s tough because you know what she’s capable of. You can’t scare people into rock bottom. You can’t push them to rock bottom. But when they hit it, it’s our job to be there for them and support them.”

Although Dr. Eric Smith advocates a healthy lifestyle, she also maintains that morbidly obese people deserve to be treated with respect, empathy, patience, and honesty. He also said, “There’s a lot of hurt that Tammy has experienced throughout her life. I think once we’re able to get Tammy to deal with some of her, say personal demons, then she’s more apt to be able to do what she needs to do to be successful.”
Dr. Eric Smith Asserts It Is Never Too Late
On Saturday, the TLC surgeon took to Instagram to share with fans his take on obesity. He asserted that it is never too late or too early to get one’s health back on track. With a picture of himself, he explained that obesity affects 4 out of 10 Americans. However, weight isn’t the only thing impacted. Dr. Eric Smith added that most patients might have to deal with chronic issues like heart disease, diabetes, and even cancer.

The father of two also described that bariatric surgery is proven to improve or even completely eliminate co-morbidities and extend one’s life. He concluded, “It’s never too early or too late to work towards being the healthiest you!”
