‘1000-Lb. Sisters:’ Dr. Eric Smith Shares Surgery Secrets
1000-Lb. Sisters fans tend to really gravitate towards Dr. Eric Smith. The doctor is kind, friendly, and takes a firm hand with his patients when he needs to — especially Tammy Slaton.

1000-Lb. Sisters star Dr. Smith takes fans behind the scenes
When 1000-Lb. Sisters fans last saw Dr. Smith, he was trying to coax Tammy into going back to rehab. Thankfully, his pep talk worked. Tammy checked herself into rehab at the end of Season 3. According to the rumor mill, she’s made incredible progress during her time there.
Tammy even reportedly qualified for bariatric surgery, which was allegedly supposed to take place at the end of July. If all this actually happened, Dr. Smith probably played an important role in the procedure. And now, the 1000-Lb. Sisters star is happy to give fans a sneak peek of the tools he uses during surgery.
“Let’s talk about robotic surgery,” Dr. Smith began his Instagram post. “It might look like I’m playing a video game here, but really I’m performing minimally invasive, life-changing bariatric surgery. Robotic surgery gives surgeons like myself better vision, more precision and full wristed motion beyond the human hand in comparison to traditional laparoscopic surgery.”
Dr. Smith went on to detail all the ways robotic procedures can actually help patients, including a faster recovery time and less post-op pain.
It’s not currently known if he used these techniques to perform Tammy’s surgery. Hopefully 1000-Lb. Sisters will come back for another season and fans will get more answers then.

Fans definitely want to see baby Glenn make an onscreen appearance.
