Giada De Laurentiis Ditches Food Network & Signs New Deal
According to Entertainment Weekly, after 21 years of working with the Food Network, Giada De Laurentiis has ditched the network and signed a multiyear deal with Amazon Studios for unscripted series production. Within this deal, she’s agreed to be an executive producer on original programs. She, however, also has her eye on being the star of some of the programs as well.
I’m looking forward to this next chapter. I’ve been a fan of Amazon for a long time, and I’m excited for what we will accomplish together.”
Lauren Anderson, the head of Amazon Studios’ AVOD original content and programming, believes Giada De Laurentiis will be a great addition to the team as she helps expand the cooking and lifestyle content in their streaming library.
Lauren Anderson stated: “With her charismatic passion for food and commitment to making extraordinary culinary experiences accessible to the home chef, Giada de Laurentiis has remained at the forefront of her industry for nearly two decades. We look forward to developing an exciting slate of projects with Giada, as she expands into new areas and we broaden our crave-worthy slate of cooking and lifestyle content.”
She won’t disappear from the network completely
While she is ditching the network for Amazon Studios, this doesn’t mean her face won’t still make appearances as Food Network airs reruns of her shows. A representative from Food Network noted that Giada De Laurentiis was “culinary royalty” and that they would always have an open seat on their team if she ever decided she wanted to return to the network to make content with them again.
Giada De Laurentiis is culinary royalty, someone who has taught audiences how to properly pronounce every cut of pasta imaginable for nearly two decades. Food Network will always be proud of the beautiful content we have created together, and our table will always have an open seat for Giada
As fans know, she first joined Food Network in 2002 with her series Everyday Italian.
