PETA Defends Kylie Jenner’s Lion Head Dress

Critics disapprove of Kylie Jenner’s latest appearance at a fashion show.
The 25-year-old reality star recently attended the Schiaparelli Spring 2023 show in Paris wearing a dress with a large lion head attached to it.
Many animal lovers on social media criticized Kylie Jenner’s outfit for promoting game hunting and taxidermy of wild animals. Fortunately, the lion head was hand sculpted from foam and hand-embroidered with wool and silk to mimic faux fur.
The animal rights organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), believes people are critiquing too harshly.
What PETA Has To Say
In a statement shared with Page Six Style, the president of PETA, Ingrid Newkirk, described the Schiaparelli collection as “fabulously innovative.” The “three-dimensional animal heads” do not incorporate any animal byproducts.
Newkirk continued, “Kylie, Naomi and Irina’s looks celebrate the beauty of wild animals and maybe a statement against trophy hunting, in which lions and wolves are torn apart to satisfy human egotism.”
PETA also shared a tweet saying: “@Schiaparelli, @kyliejenner, @naomicampbell, & @theirishayk must extend this creativity to be 100% vegan & exclude sheep shorn bloody for wool & silkworms boiled alive for silk!

Who Else Was At The Show?
Naomi Campbell also appeared in the show walking the runway. As well as Irina Shayk.
In an Instagram post tagging the fashion company and the creative director, she says,
“I support these incredible artists who worked tirelessly, with their hands, using wool, silk, and foam, to sculpt this embroidered Lion.” She continued that it is “an image of Pride, an image that @schiaparelli invokes while exploring themes of strength. I am honored to have been called on as well to lend my art as a woman to this@danielroseberry.”

They have also been credited with bringing more attention to animal issues and have helped implement changes in laws.
Overall, PETA’s approach to animal rights is polarizing and has led to both support and condemnation from different groups.
