Whoopi Goldberg acknowledges her Oscars snub
Moderator Whoopi Goldberg introduced the audience to the show. She kicked things off by talking about the Oscars. The comedian called out the Academy for the snub.
They snubbed her for her role in the film Till. She wasn’t butt-hurt over the result though. While Whoopi expressed her disappointment, she was also happy for those who were nominated. Many of the celebrity guests on The View received nominations.
“Unfortunately, my film, Till, was not nominated, but we do want to congratulate the nominees because many of them have been here and it’s wonderful to say, ‘Congrats,'” Whoopi Goldberg said.
Her co-hosts Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin clapped. The rest of the studio audience applauded as well. The co-hosts remained quiet until Whoopi moved on to the next topic. They didn’t discuss the rest of the nominations, which movie watchers have been buzzing about.
The View moderator still feels lucky
Regardless of what happens, Whoopi Goldberg feels lucky. She expressed gratitude for her career on The View. The actress talked about her role in the new film Godfather of Harlem. The 67-year-old admitted that she’s lucky to get movie roles at her age.
She’s having a good time with the new project and says it’s a lot of “fun.” It was a change of pace from Till, which was a serious film. Her co-host Joy Behar wanted to know if this meant Whoopi wanted off the show. She said that moderating The View “is fun,” but her new role is “REALLY fun.”
“Nobody is luckier on television than I am to have this gig,” Whoopi Goldberg admitted.
This comes amid the ongoing backlash against. Fans and Jewish leaders have called for her firing from The View. Whoopi’s controversial comments with The Times UK went viral after she talked about the Holocaust and the Jewish community.
She brought up the comments that led to her two-week suspension from the daytime talk show. In the interview, she wondered if the Jewish were considered a religion or a race. She admitted that her friends never know what “box” to “check” on applications.
