Al Roker Teases His Wife Joining ‘Today’ Show
Today show weathercaster Al Roker recently teased his wife Deborah Roberts joining the morning show. After a long struggle with complications due to blood clots in his legs and lungs, the weatherman has finally returned to Studio 1A resuming his work. As he entered the set, he was accompanied by his wife and received a warm welcome from his co-hosts in the show. So, why is Deborah Roberts joining the Today show? Deborah Roberts Accompanies Al Roker To Today Set
Al Roker returned to the morning show after a two-month hiatus. His co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie looked emotional at his return. Savannah said, “I’m sorry, but the tears are already flowing.” In her shaky voice, she also smiled adding, “Al Roker is back!”

Roker first walked on the set and embraced Savannah and Hoda. However, his wife, Deborah Roberts joined him later to share details of how grave her husband’s condition was. Al Roker seemed very thankful to his wife for the love and support she showered on him while he was struggling. He even acknowledged her in an Instagram post while wishing she would join the Today show as well.
Deborah Roberts Declines The Offer To Join Today Show
In a snap from the interview on the Today show, he wrote, “Can’t thank @debrobertsabc enough for getting me through this medical crisis. And now that she’s here at @todayshow maybe she might stay? Just kidding!!”
However, Deborah Roberts respectfully declined her husband’s offer to join the Today show. She said, “I’m doing just fine across town at ABC. But thanks.”

While Deborah has never been a part of the Today show, she has been a part of the network. She started her career at WTVM, a local TV station in Columbus, Georgia. Later, she moved to work at WBIR, a Knoxville-based local TV station. From 1987 to 1990, the journalist also served as the bureau chief/weekend news co-anchor/NASA field reporter at WFTV.
Deborah Roberts Worked At NBC Before Moving To ABC
Later in 1990, she joined NBC News and worked as a general-assignment reporter. She also worked as a correspondent for Dateline NBC. In 1995, Roberts left NBC and moved to ABC News as a correspondent for 20/20. She also anchored the weekend evening news program, World News Tonight Weekend. Simultaneously, she also served as a host at Good Morning America. For a brief period in July and September 2006, she was also a guest host on The View.

For her contribution to the field of journalism and reporting, Deborah Roberts won an Emmy Award and a Clarion Award. Apart from NBC and ABC, she has also contributed to other network platforms like Nightline, Primetime, and The Katie Couric Show.
