Deborah Roberts gets reflective on Al Roker’s recovery
On Saturday, January 7, Deborah Roberts shared a photo of their New York neighborhood. She got reflective on Al Roker’s recovery. She admits that his physical healing has allowed her heart to heal over time. However, it’s going to take some time since she’s nervous about his return.
“Dawn of a new day. For weeks now, I used to convey our injured hearts to friends and family,” Deborah Roberts wrote in her Instagram post. “It seemed to capture the worry and fear our family carried daily. Today it suddenly occurred to me that I’ve used ❤️ recently. Didn’t even realize that our hearts are gradually healing and the light was seeping in. It is a slow process.”
She admits it’s going to take some time for her heart to rest. Deborah is embracing this New Year and life with her husband. She’s dedicating this time to “patience, love, and ordinary moments.” The television personality is hoping for a more relaxed year after the scary moments she endured with her husband.
Fans took to Deborah’s Instagram post to share their thoughts. Most of them shared well wishes and warm thoughts for Al Roker’s recovery. Others assured her that they felt the same way about their own loved ones. Deborah has received an outpouring of support during this difficult time.
Returning to the Today Show
Al Roker shared the details of his health scare that kept him off the show for two months. He returned to the set of the morning show with Deborah by his side. She made sure that he was ready to return. The meteorologist was hospitalized in November 2022 for blood clots in his lungs and legs.
He shared that he had to undergo a seven-hour-long surgery to “correct a bunch of internal stuff.” Al Roker realized he had multiple blood clots after his bout with COVID-19 back in September. He “lost half my blood” and they wanted to know where it was coming from. Al joked that he “went in for one operation” and then he “got four for free.”
Deborah admitted that Al Roker was “a very, very, very sick man.” They credit his doctors and medical team for getting him back on track with his recovery. Deborah called Al a “living breathing miracle.” She could feel all the prayers they received from the fanbase.
