‘Today’ Host Al Roker Gets Royalty Treatment Amid Health Scare
Al Roker has been in the headlines over the last couple of months due to ongoing health problems but he made headlines today by flashing his signature smile and enjoying food from his favorite sub shop.
Oswego Sub Shop in New York gave Roker the royal treatment which certainly put a smile on his face. With all the ingredients to make his favorite sub, he wasted no time building a delicious sandwich and sharing photos with his fans.
What’s So Special About Roker’s Oswego Sub?
In the past, Al named Oswego Sub Shop the “best subs in America.”
“What a surprise,” Al captioned his post. “My favorite sub shop, #oswegosubshop sent me the fixings to make a few of my favorite subs. I knew Bill Greene, Sr. Better known as ‘Pops,’ he turned it over to Bill, Jr. Thanks, guys. #yummy #hoagie.”
Al posted two posts about the subs, featuring a different sandwich in each post to show his fans he is enjoying every bite of Oswego’s gift.
When is Al Roker Returning to Today?
After a severe bout of health issues that began in November, fans have been wondering when Al Roker is returning to Today. He’s scheduled to make his comeback on Friday, January 6, 2023. Fans can’t wait for his return and commented with excitement on his sub sandwich post:
Fans were glad to see his smiling face after seeing more serious photos of him earlier this week. After a joyous holiday season, Roker spent some time walking with his physical therapist, a reminder that he’s taking his health seriously and is determined to recover and return to his hosting duties.
Some fans also commented on his thin appearance while wishing him well. One fan wrote “I don’t know how you’re REALLY feeling.. but I see that Roker sparkle coming back. Please stop scaring us. YOU ARE A NATIONAL TREASURE (((( HUGS)))).” Another offered compliments: “You look good. So does the sandwich.”
Al’s co-hosts, Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, and Craig Melvin, were talking about celebrating his future return to the show. They aired a throwback clip from 2018 showing all of them together. The clip also honored his 40 years with Today, showcasing his best on-air moments. Roker is considered America’s weatherman and is trusted by all. He made his Today debut in January 1996 and has hosted many Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parades, among other hosting and show opportunities throughout the years.
Savannah noted that seeing Al live has been great, but she’s ready to see him in person. Craig mentioned he is excited about baking with Al again.
