‘Sister Wives’: Robyn Brown’s Purity Speech Filled With Lies?
Sister Wives fans have not made it a secret that they don’t love Robyn Brown. However, viewers started to tear apart some of the things she said in previous episodes. Specifically, they have gone back to listen to the purity speech that she gave the kids. There are some inconsistencies, to say the least. Keep reading to see why people are calling her a liar now.
Robyn Brown’s Purity Speech Broken Down
Fans of the show took to Reddit to discuss Robyn Brown’s purity speech and some inconsistencies they saw in it. In her little speech that she gave the kids, she makes it seem like she was groomed at the age of 16.
The Redditor that opened the discussion about the purity speech asked what Robyn’s age was when she had Dayton. They wrote, “I just looked it up. Dayton was born 2000, she was born 1978. She was 22?! She makes it sound like she was groomed at 16 in her purity speech.”
The OP continued, “She was 22!!!!! She went on to marry the man and have two more kids with him!!! Talk about not being culpable 😵💫.”
People familiar with the show were quick to jump into the comments and let them know their thoughts. One person said that Robyn Brown made this purity speech to the older children in the family. She told them about how she got pregnant in college and it forced her to marry her first husband.
On top of that, the OP said that “she went on to marry the man.” A few people picked up on this and couldn’t believe that she had a child out of wedlock, which was the very thing she was talking to the kids about not doing.
After some digging, one Redditor said that they got married in June 2000 before Dayton was born in 2000. They theorized that it was probably a “shotgun wedding” so that she wouldn’t commit the sin of having a baby outside of marriage.
Fans Think Robyn Is A Hypocrite
At the end of the day, fans think Robyn is a hypocrite and “not culpable.” One Redditor said that she was essentially trying to scare the children into purity, even though she didn’t abide by the same rules or lifestyle at their age.
Several people also pointed out that Dayton grew up knowing that Robyn Brown felt she was tricked into having sex, which resulted in his birth. Others noted the fact that in their culture there isn’t any dating. People court to marry or nothing.
