ABC’s ‘This Week’ Executive Producer Dax Tejera Dead At 37
Sad news for the ABC family as Dax Tejera, executive producer of This Week, has been confirmed dead at the age of 37. Dax has been the executive producer of the public affairs talk show anchored by George Stephanopoulos and Martha Raddatz for nearly three years. ABC’s This Week Executive Producer Dax Tejera Dead At 37
Sadly, the executive producer of This Week passed away just days before Christmas on Friday, December 23rd. According to The Wrap, his cause of death was reported to be a sudden and unexpected heart attack. ABC News president Kim Godwin sent a memo to the staff of This Week on Saturday (Christmas Eve of 2022) confirming his passing. Making the news more tragic, Dax Tejera died just a few weeks before his 38th birthday.
Kim penned in the memo confirming his passing: “It’s with a heavy heart and great sadness that we share that our friend and colleague, Dax Tejera passed away suddenly of a heart attack last night.”

Dax Tejera was just 35 when he was named the executive producer of ABC’s This Week. He snagged the position just a few weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic started. With Dax Tejera in charge, This Week quickly became a number-one show for adults between the ages of 25 and 54. His career, however, didn’t start there. Back in 2017, he joined the ABC News family by landing the senior producer gig at the Washington Bureau.
During his time overseeing ABC’s This Week, he had a hand in producing major breaking news and news breaking interviews including things related to the COVID pandemic, the 2020 presidential election, and the riot at the Capitol on January 6th.

Dax was one of the people who first believed in me in tv news. Such a huge loss for the industry. For Latinos in media. But especially for his family.

Dax Tejera is survived by his two young daughters and his wife, Veronica.
