Netflix’s The Sandman has a new holiday gift for fans. The creator Neil Gaiman recently shared a deleted scene from one of the series’ most popular episodes titled The Sound Of Her Wings. The Sandman Deleted Scene Was Screened At Brazil’s 2022 CCXP
The Sandman Season 1 Episode 6 saw Morpheus feeling a bit puzzled and needing a sense of clarity. After meeting his elder sister Death, he shadows her learning more about humankind and their relationship with death. Death offers Dream advice and even encourages him to reconnect with an old acquaintance. However, the episode had more to it but the scene was cropped. Now, it is available for fans to see on YouTube and Twitter alike.

The deleted scene was originally screened exclusively at Brazil’s 2022 CCXP. More so, the scene is well-known among fans of the spinoff comic book series, Death: The High Cost Of Living. In this deleted scene, Death, played by Kirby Howell-Baptiste, revealed to Dream, played by Tom Sturridge, that she broke her routine in the past. She disclosed that she took a day off to feel what it was like to be alive. This experience helped her appreciate the final moments that a human goes through. Knowing what was coming for her as a human, she fought against her own time to die.
Howell-Baptiste Forgot About The Sandman Deleted Scene
In an interview with Collider, Howell-Baptiste admitted that she had forgotten about this deleted scene given the time between filming and the series premiere on Netflix. She also believes that this moment shared between the siblings and her admission of living a life as a human is a key to understanding Death. This also explains how she got to the place she was at regarding her role.

The actress also shared, “So the scene that was shown here [at CCXP] that was deleted, which by the way, I had kind of forgotten about it because it was such a long time ago. So, it was really nice for me to see it, and it felt brand new again.”
Death Lives A Human Life Every 100 Years
The deleted scene is a continuation of Death and Dream walking and talking through London as she looks for humans whose time is up. She reveals a time when she was about to rip a kid’s soul and she questioned how would she feel if she were in her place. That is when Death decided, every 100 years, she will live as a human, awaiting her death.
