Disney+’s Daredevil reboot series Daredevil: Born Again will be dark but it might not be as gory as the original. A switch from Netflix to Disney+ might require the series to go softer than its original rendition. After reprising his role in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, Charlie Cox will return in the 18-episode series and spend the upcoming year shooting for this Marvel project. The actor also clarified how the upcoming series will be different and caters to a much younger audience than before. Keep reading to find out what more he revealed about the Marvel series!
When Does Daredevil: Born Again Premiere On Disney+?
Despite its highly acclaimed status, Daredevil didn’t receive a renewal for a fourth season from Netflix in 2018. However, in June 2020, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige contacted Cox to reprise his role as the titular character. Later in May 2022, Daredevil: Born Again was confirmed with Feige and Chris Gray as producers. Filming for the series will start in February 2023 and wrap up by December 2023 as confirmed by the actor. As per ComicBook, the series will release on Disney+ in the spring of 2024.
Given that the original series became popular due to its graphic violence and brooding tone, fans wonder if the Disney+ reboot will have a similar tone. Although the makers have plans in place to ensure that the storyline is completely in line with the original, Cox feels it might not be as gory.
Daredevil: Born Again Isn’t A Fourth Season Of The Original
Talking about the reboot, Cox mentioned, “My opinion is this character works best when he’s geared towards a slightly more mature audience. My instinct is that on Disney+ it will be dark but it probably won’t be as gory.”
Cox also had a response for fans who are hoping for the series to mimic Netflix’s tone. He said, “I would say to those people, we’ve done that. Let’s take the things that really worked, but can we broaden? Can we appeal to a slightly younger audience without losing what we’ve learned about what works?”
So, technically, Daredevil: Born Again is a whole new series and not a fourth season of the original Netflix series.
When Will Charlie Cox Starrer Treason Release On Netflix?
However, the series is at least a year away and fans who wish to see Cox on screen in another role can watch him on Netflix’s Treason. The limited spy-thriller series will premiere on December 26, 2022, and is the perfect title to watch post-Christmas. The trailer showcases Cox as Adam Lawrence the new head of MI6 who has to take on a Russian spy with whom he shares a complicated past.
