‘Superman & Lois’ Season 3 Recasts Lex Luthor, No Jon Cryer
Superman & Lois Season 3 has decided to recast its key villain, Lex Luthor. The series confirmed that the character won’t bring back the original actor Jon Cryer in the iconic role. Among the latest DC shows that have found their footing on The CW and other platforms, this series has been the most successful. Besides amazing ratings, fans have loved Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent. The CW’s Superman & Lois Isn’t Set On Earth-Prime
Now that the series has split from the Arrowverse and Jon Cryer’s Lex Luthor is in the Phantom Zone, fans are excited to see what’s in store for Season 3. Superman & Lois Season 2 finale revealed that the Earth in the season was Earth-Prime given the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover. However, the superhero exists in its own universe different from Earth-Prime.

Now there is a need for a new Lex Luthor. The new villain is hell-bent on annihilating the ones that are responsible for ruining his life. He is also a chilling businessman with a rogue personality and questionable morals.
Will Lex Luthor Be The Prime Villain In Season 3?
As of now, it’s unclear if Lex Luthor will be the prime focus of the series or just a one-off villain. No details have been provided as to who will play the new villain. The series stars Bitsie Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin initially appeared in the interconnected DC Universe of The CW known as Arrowverse.
This includes shows such as The Flash, Supergirl, Black Lightning, Legends Of Tomorrow, Arrow, Batwoman, and Supergirl. Given that other Arrowverse actors such as David Ramsey and Jenna Dewan have returned to the series, fans expected Jon Cryer to reprise his role as well.

Jon Cryer confirmed the new casting news on Twitter. He wrote, “Since this news is about a new Lex Luthor casting call for Superman & Lois, that means I’m not going to be playing him this time around. Godspeed to the guy who gets it! It’s a terrific show.”
When Will Superman & Lois Season 3 Premiere?
Superman & Lois was initially intended to be a part of the Arrowverse. However, during the debut season, showrunner Warner Bros. and Todd Helbing decided that it needs to be a separate show. The series received a renewal in March 2022. As per ComicBook, Season 3 will premiere on The CW sometime in 2023. However, there is no official date revealed for the same.

There is a chance the forthcoming series could premiere as early as February. Currently, the Supernatural spinoff, The Winchesters aired its debut season in Superman & Lois timeslot. The series will soon move to a later timeslot from January 24 leaving the window open for the superhero show.
