‘The Sandman’ Author Assures Season 2’s Netflix Future Is Safe

Neil Gaiman Confirms The Sandman Season 2 Isn’t Canceled
The 62-year-old took to social media promising viewers that the team working on the series has already completed the negotiations for the production phase. After the news of possible disagreement between Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix surfaced, fans feared the series’ future. More so, they even voiced concerns citing that the series might get canceled.

However, Gaiman clarified, “Sandman Season 2 has been commissioned by Netflix and is real. Whatever behind-the-scenes wrangling and negotiating needed to happen to make this a reality has already occurred.”
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO Displeased With Netflix
As per CBR.com, Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix’s relations are currently tense because of an ongoing dispute. This issue is regarding Netflix’s payment terms. The streaming giant usually pays the producers associated with its shows over the course of 18 to 24 months. However, sources claim that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is not happy with the same. He also shared his discontent with several key personnel at Warner Bros. Discovery.

This ongoing issue has massively impacted the company’s daily operations. Reportedly, this includes the implementation of a temporary partial embargo on Netflix. Moreover, Zaslav has forbidden his teams from selling finished shows to the streaming giant for an unconfirmed number of weeks.
An insider at Warner Bros. Discovery provided further insights on the matter. They revealed, “It’s an odd way of looking at it. It’s obviously the way the industry works and has worked with Netflix. He’s paid big numbers [by Netflix] and the company has been happy with that. It’s like he suddenly discovered what the payment terms were.”
The Sandman Season 2 Marks Delirium’s Debut
While the news of The Sandman’s renewal was certainly a happy surprise for fans, the writer and viewers feared its heavy budget might lead to cancelation. Fortunately, Gaiman celebrated the renewal news with a special message. The author claimed that the forthcoming season will have some astonishing adventures for Morpheus. Gaiman specifically hinted that Season 2 will also feature a family gathering for the Endless. Finally, he also revealed that the Dream Lord will come face-to-face again with Hell’s ruler, Lord Lucifer.

The Sandman Season 2 also marks the TV debut of Delirium, the youngest member of the Endless. Finally, while Season 1 is currently available to stream on Netflix, there is no official premiere date for the upcoming season.
