Disney+ ‘Daredevil’ Reboot To Have A TV-MA Rating, Why?
Disney+’s upcoming Daredevil Reboot, Daredevil: Born Again will reportedly have a TV-MA rating. The series isn’t a continuation of the original but a fresh take on the same. Daredevil was canceled after three seasons by Netflix. Although it was expected to be renewed for a fourth season, the streamer didn’t approve the same. Now, the series is born again under new Disney CEO Bob Iger’s watch but with a mature audience rating. Why does the series have this rating? Keep reading to find out the details!
Daredevil: Born Again Follows On The OG Series’ Rating
Although officially unconfirmed, a trusted insider Daniel Richtman disclosed that Iger won’t change the series’ TV-MA rating. The message was confirmed via a Patreon direct message exchange shared on a Marvel subreddit. Back in November, Richtman previously mentioned that the reboot series will likely be TV-MA. If the claims are to be believed, Daredevil: Born Again will follow in the footsteps of the original series which sported the same rating.

Given how the series was noted for its graphic violence and mature content, Iger most likely won’t change the same for Daredevil: Born Again. In response to Richtman’s original report, former Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight supported the supposed TV-MA rating with a tweet. The tweet read, “Love it!”
DeKnight helmed the debut season of the Netflix series before Marco Ramirez and Dough Petrie took charge of the series.
Daredevil Star Charlie Cox Agrees With Less Bloody Reboot
Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox also shared his thoughts regarding the show’s potential mature rating. As per CBR.com, Cox will reprise his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the upcoming series. He insisted that Marvel Studios doesn’t necessarily need to be TV-MA to deliver fans an edgy and fresh take on the character.

“I’m such a fan of everything they’ve done so far, I wouldn’t underestimate them at all. So if they wanted to make a more PG version of Daredevil, I back them to find a way to do it where it feels totally in keeping with everything we’ve done. And maybe there’s a little less blood, maybe there’s a little whatever, but I back them to do it,” he explained.
Charlie Cox Might Star As Daredevil In Deadpool 3
Apart from reprising his role in the reboot show, Cox will reportedly play the character in the upcoming movie, Deadpool 3. Talking about his potential role in the movie, he said that the two characters are a good tonal fit for one another. Although the actor did hint at his possible role in the Deadpool franchise, there is no concrete evidence to confirm the same.

Deadpool 3 will arrive in theaters in November 2024. On the other hand, Daredevil: Born Again will premiere sometime in early 2024 on Disney+. The series will have a total of 18 episodes in the first season.
