While getting honest on whether or not she thought they got what they deserved, Alexus likened her former in-laws to Bonnie and Clyde.
Why does Kyle Chrisley’s ex-wife think Todd and Julie are like Bonnie and Clyde? Keep reading for the details.
Todd and Julie Chrisley’s former DIL speaks out
Overall, Alexus Whilby seems to think Todd and Julie Chrisley got off lucky considering the crimes they are convicted of, the evidence piled up against them, and their refusal to admit any guilt for what they’ve done. Their former daughter-in-law admits she thinks the reality TV couple got off pretty light considering they are still refusing any accountability for what they’ve been accused of.
Alexus added that she isn’t buying the argument that Todd and Julie were set up. Or, the more recent claim, that Julie didn’t intentionally commit fraud. She believes her former in-laws knew exactly what they were doing and the evidence piled up against them speaks volumes.
They lied to obtain money from loans. They lied about their wealth to everyone. It’s highly likely they thought this was also going to pass. They’re the modern-day Bonnie and Clyde.”
Todd and Julie’s former daughter-in-law said she believes the prosecution focused on trying to poke holes in Todd and Julie’s story to prove they were lying.
She continued to tell the outlet: “I believe that they were trying to prove that Todd was being dishonest and that his story had holes. Todd and Julie were very tight-lipped about why they do the things they do.”

The couple still insists they are innocent
After being sentenced collectively to 19 years behind bars, the U.S. Attorney Ryan Buchanan issued a statement detailing the crimes that Julie and Todd are going to jail for which included: “submitting false bank statements, audit reports, and personal financial statements to Georgia community banks to obtain $36 million in loans.”
The statement also revealed that Todd and Julie used the funds they obtained by defrauding Georgia community banks to live a lavish and luxurious lifestyle that was far beyond their means. Moreover, the couple also reportedly used some of the money from new fraudulent loans to pay back some of the older loans. To this day, Todd and Julie insist they are innocent and their lawyers plan to appeal their conviction.
