Smallville’s Tom Welling Plays Mary Campbell’s Father
Back in October, the showrunners announced that Smallville alum Tom Welling will play the role of Samuel Campbell, Mary Campbell’s father. This makes him the future grandfather of Dean and Sam Winchester. Mitch Pileggi was originally cast as Mary’s father on Supernatural. Although fans knew of Tom Welling’s role in the series, it wasn’t confirmed when the actor would drop in the series.

The upcoming episode will air on Tuesday, December 6. In the episode, both John and Mary find trails that lead back to their fathers. Given that Mary has been searching for her father throughout the first season, this development will be an interesting point in the series. As Carlos, played by JoJo Fleites, helps Mary investigate the whereabouts of Akrida, they discover much more than they bargained for. Meanwhile, Millie steps in to help Ada, John, and Latika to decipher notes left behind as they stumble upon a way to get some answers.
Will Tom Welling Have A Recurring Role In The Winchesters?
As per ComicBook, it is currently unknown how prominently the Smallville alum will feature in the series. Welling has been a mainstay on The CW network mostly due to his role as Clark Kent in his Superman origin story. The actor later reprised his role for a cameo in Batwoman for the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover episode.

The Winchester serves as a prequel to the events that have occurred in Supernatural. It follows Mary Campbell and John Winchester, Sam and Dean’s parents, as they embark upon their own adventures. As of now, the show has had largely positive reviews from both critics and fans.
Jensen Ackles Narrates The Winchester’s Story
A major aspect of the show is Jensen Ackles’ return as Dean Winchester who narrates the story for viewers. He also serves as an executive producer on the series and has been very passionate about the project. Before the start of the shoot, he took both Rodger and Donnelly aside to remind them how much depends on their performance.
The 44-year-old quipped, “I’m like, listen, I didn’t work my a** off for 15 years to have you kids come in here and f*** it up. There’s a big population of people that are very protective of the story and of these characters, and you are the new stewards of this, and you need to understand the weight of that, and you need to understand how important it is to treat this with care and respect.”
