Can ‘Jeopardy!’ G.O.A.T. Ken Jennings Defeat Recent Champions?
Jeopardy! recently wrapped up the 2022 Tournament Of Champions hosted by Ken Jennings. With Amy Schneider declared as the ultimate winner, fans wonder whether the host and former super-champ would be able to take on the latest Jeopardy! champions. The contestant turned host first appeared on Jeopardy! Season 20, and holds the record for longest winning streak and highest winnings in regular-season play. So, does Ken stand a chance against present-day super-champs like Amy Schneider? Here is what fans have to say!
Ken Jennings Is The Highest-Winning Game Show Contestant
After 74 consecutive wins on the game show, Ken is the G.O.A.T. player. Not just that, he also appeared on other game shows and was dubbed the highest-winning game show contestant. The permanent host also went on to write a book dedicated to American trivia culture and history. He also penned a children’s book. However, the former champion has also bagged the limelight in 2020 for a series of controversial tweets.

Following legendary host, late Alex Trebek’s death in 2020, Ken and Mayim Bialik were among many guest hosts assigned to take charge of the show. As per The Sun, they continued hosting as temporary hosts on the show until Season 38. However, in 2022, right before the start of Season 39, it was announced that he and Mayim would split the hosting duties and were declared the show’s permanent hosts.
Jeopardy! Fans Think Ken Jennings Had The Perfect Send-Off
Now fans wonder if his hosting gig might rob him of a chance to compete against the recent super champions. They also wondered if he will be able to take on and defeat them.
On Reddit, Jeopardy! fans discussed the possibility of Ken and other champions competing head-to-head in an intense match of wits.
The OP wrote, “You ever think Ken looks at a super champ, like Mattea or Cris, and says, ‘Yeah, I could still take ‘em?”

“Yes, and he’s right,” replied another.
A third claimed, “Ken would win, but he had the perfect sendoff. He defeated two amazing competitors in front of the late great Alex Trebek. Nothing could be sweeter.”
A fourth Ken fan added, “Considering he is considered to be the greatest of all time, yes, yes he can.”
Has Ken Jennings Lost The Speed To Compete?
However, not all Jeopardy! fans spoke in favor of the host. One skeptic user chimed in, “On some Omnibus episode he talked about competing 10 years later and said he feels like he lost the physical & mental speed to compete with younger players.”

Other fans claimed that the host might need to warm up for the challenge if he ever wishes to compete again. Yet, others claimed that he gave up the right to compete the day he accepted the position as the show’s host.
