‘SW’: The Real Reason Kody Brown Wants 50/50 Custody Of Truely
As Sister Wives Season 17 continues, fans are watching Christine and Kody Brown’s relationship whither and die. They don’t need to legally divorce, since they were never legally married. However, they may need to get the courts involved when it comes to their daughter, Truely. She’s only in 7th grade, which means she will live under her parents’ roof for several more years.
But Kody hasn’t really shown much interest in Truely since she was born. So why exactly does he want 50/50 custody of her? Redditors think they may have the answer.
Sister Wives viewers think Kody Brown has bad intentions for pursuing custody
Kody Brown seems to have a pretty strained relationship with Christine’s children. Aspyn and Paedon haven’t appeared on the show in years. Meanwhile, Gwendlyn and Ysabel have had their own share of bad experiences with their dad. Mykelti seems to be the only one on regular speaking terms with the family patriarch.
So why would Kody want custody of Truely then?
“Random thought on why Kody is so adamant in insisting he wants 50/50 custody of [Truely],” one Redditor wrote online. “He has admitted to throwing random crap out about the state owning [Truely] if they don’t have a custody agreement etc. Why he really wants a custody agreement in place and specifically a 50/50 split is to avoid child support.”
So as it turns out, Kody Brown would probably prefer not to get the courts involved at all.
“All things considered, it would seem that Kody Brown would rather avoid the forensic accountant looking into his checkbook,” another Redditor chimed in.
“I think it’s both to avoid child support and also to pretend to be fighting for Truely so he can use this and tell her for all eternity how he fought for her,” another user suggested. “I don’t think he actually connects the dots to realize that most of his non Robyn kids are fully aware, with no illusions, that he’s an absentee father who absolutely does not love them equally or as fully as Robyn’s 5.”

Christine Brown has a brand new life that doesn’t involve her ex
Sister Wives fans won’t get a chance to look inside Christine’s new life onscreen for a while yet. However, she’s confirmed that she and Truely are quite happy living in Utah. They’re surrounded by family and don’t have to put up with Kody’s bad behavior any longer.
This will likely be a topic explored when Sister Wives comes back in the fall of 2023. For now, fans will just have to stay tuned and see what plays out onscreen. There’s definitely going to be a lot of drama on the road ahead.
