Thanksgiving was an emotional day for the Today show and Al Roker fans. The weathercaster was recently hospitalized after a blood clot in his leg broke into several pieces and reached his lungs. With fans wishing for his speedy recovery, is the host finally back home? Has he recovered? Keep reading to find out the details!
Al Roker’s Wife Deborah Shares Thanksgiving Reunion Pictures
Back in 2001, the 68-year-old had his left knee replaced followed by a bypass surgery in 2002. He also had back surgery in 2005 and rotator cuff surgery in 2014. The weatherman got his right knee replaced in 2016 and last year, he also had shoulder surgery. However, it seems like the host is back to his cheery self and is back home.
On Thursday, his wife Deborah Roberts took to Instagram to share a sweet picture of Al with his family and another of him playing with his pet dog. She cuddled up to her husband and the couple was surrounded by their three children, Courtney, Leila, and Nicholas as the family smiled for the camera. Al wore a comfortable long-sleeved grey top with his trademark spectacles. However, he did appear tired and frail from his time at the hospital.
Deborah Roberts Thanks Fans For Their Prayers
Deborah looked happy to have her husband back home and healthy. She captioned the picture, “Thursday thankfulness and then some. Holding on tight and cherishing this moment like never before.”
“Welcome home my dear sweetheart, @alroker. Gratitude isn’t an adequate description but we will start there. Brilliant medical minds. Loving family and friends. Unceasing Prayer warriors. #thanksgiving,” she concluded.
Hours before Deborah posted the update on Instagram, Al shared a delightful video of him exiting the hospital and heading home for his Thanksgiving dinner.
He captioned the video, “This is my version of the Thanksgiving Day parade. Getting ready to leave the hospital. Time to blow this taco stand.”
As per The Sun, this isn’t the first time the weathercaster was forced to miss the Thanksgiving Day Parade in more than 25 years. The NBC anchor has been presenting this annual event on the ground since 1995 alongside his co-anchors including Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie.
Al Roker Receives A Shoutout From Co-Hosts At The Parade
Before his exit from the hospital, he shared a picture of himself watching the parade from a TV set in his room and claimed how thankful he was for the day and being able to leave the hospital and be among his family.
While Al couldn’t attend the parade, his co-hosts didn’t forget him. Both Savannah and Hoda have their colleague a big shoutout live on air. They talked about how the weatherman has been by their side hosting the parade for the past 27 years. On a positive note, Savannah chimed in, “We love you, Al. We’ll see you next year.”
Here’s to hoping Al Roker is back to the Today show soon!
