The Today show weathercaster Al Roker is on the mend after he was hospitalized for blood clots in his lungs and leg. The 68-year-old had been struggling with knee pain and had to undergo multiple surgeries to correct the problem. Fans started worrying after the weather reporter was missing for two weeks from the show after which his wife Deborah Roberts confirmed that he is currently hospitalized. Al Roker Is Thankful For The Terrific Medical Care

On Friday, Al provided his fans with a health update in an Instagram post. The journalist shared a picture of a bouquet of beautiful flowers alongside an NBC News coffee mug.

He wrote, “So many of you have been thoughtfully asking where I’ve been. Last week I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent some clots into my lungs. After some medical whack-a-mole, I am so fortunate to be getting terrific medical care and on the way to recovery.”

Hoping to be back to his healthy self, he added, “Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers, and hope to see you soon. Have a great weekend, everyone.”

Today’s Dylan Dreyer Is Filling In For Al Roker

As per People.com, Roker has been a part of the Today show as a premiere weather anchor since 1996. However, prior to becoming a permanent face on the show, the weathercaster also appeared as a substitute from 1990 to 1995. He filled in for the late Willard Scott before his semiretirement.

Back in September, he was absent from the show after he tested positive for COVID-19. While Roker has been absent on the show dealing with his health problems, Dylan Dreyer has been filling in for him.

Al Roker Receives Love And Well-Wishes From Colleagues

Praying for their colleague’s health, his co-anchors Hoda Kotb, Carson Daly, Savannah Guthrie, and Craig Melvin sent Roker well wishes on Friday’s episode.

Guthrie updated fans on his health stating, “He’s in good spirits, we’ve all talked to him. He’s in great spirits.”

Noting his positivity amid the health struggles, Hoda Kotb noted, “Not that you need us to tell you how incredible Al is but the first time I called him he immediately said, ‘Hey Dylly Dill, how are the boys?’ How are you going to ask about the kids? That’s classic Al.”

Daly also noted how badly he is missing Roker’s videos dedicated to his morning workout routine. He mentioned how the weathercaster inspired him daily to stay fit and healthy. Back in 2020, Al also received a prostate cancer diagnosis. However, his cancer was caught early and he underwent a procedure for the removal of his prostate.

  1. Al we were so sorry that you have had a couple of rough weeks but so happy to hear that you are on your road to recovery. I know how serious this can be as I have had 2 DVTS in the past and they were not fun. Please know that we miss you on the Today Show but you must take care of yourself and not rush back.
