‘Love Actually’ Reunion Heads To ABC, When?
A Love Actually reunion is happening, and fans can’t contain their excitement. Love Actually premiered nearly 20 years ago and became an instant classic Christmas movie. Fans worldwide watch the film each year during the holiday season and gleefully quote their favorite lines.
Love Actually
For people unfamiliar with this romantic comedy, it features several couples navigating their love lives in the chaotic month leading up to Christmas Day.
This Christmas film brought together familiar faces such as Kiera Knightly, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Billy Bob Thornton, and Alan Rickman. Set in London, England, the story follows ten couples, each facing a different romantic dilemma. The film charmed movie watchers and became a holiday tradition in many homes.
Originally there were more than ten different storylines, but a few of them didn’t make it to the movie’s final cut. One of those plots was about a couple living in Africa and another one involved a school headmistress and their dying partner. In an early version of Love Actually, Rowan Atkinson didn’t play a gift wrapper at the airport. His character was originally meant to be an angel. The film’s soundtrack was so popular it went platinum in both the UK and Australia. Love Actually was nominated for eighteen awards and won nine of them.
Love Actually – The Sequel
In 2017, a short sequel was made. Originally titled Red Nose Day Actually, it was set thirteen years after the original film. Like in the original movie, each character has their own individual story that somehow relates to the charity event Red Nose Day.
While almost all of the original cast returned, five chose not to. In addition, Emma Thompson did not appear in the movie as her character’s partner, Alan Rickman, had recently passed away. The short was only 17 minutes long.
Despite pleas from fans, the original movie’s creator has repeatedly stated there will not be a full-length sequel. Therefore, fans must be satisfied with the first film and Red Nose Day Actually.
Love Actually – The Reunion
While it hasn’t been precisely twenty years since the film first premiered, some actors are coming together to do a surprise reunion for their fans. Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Bill Nighy, and Laura Linney will answer questions, laugh, and chat with award-winning journalist Diane Sawyer.
Where And When To Watch
After the squeals of excitement die down, the most asked question is when and where to watch “The Laughter & Secrets of ‘Love Actually’: 20 Years Later – A Diane Sawyer Special”. Don’t worry. It’s soon. The special event will premiere on ABC on November 29th, 2022, at 8 pm ET after Wheel of Fortune. What do you think? Will you be tuning in to the surprise reunion event? Let us know!
