What Is Happening With Alison Sweeney’s Mysteries?
Alison Sweeney is a Hallmark fan-favorite. The Days alum has been part of two very popular Hallmark Mystery franchises, as an actress, executive producer, and even as a collaborator.
Moreover, the Magical Christmas Village star just recently signed a multi-picture deal with Hallmark Media.
Her two mystery franchises are Murder She Baked/Hannah Swensen, with Barbara Niven, and Cameron Mathison. Her other series is Chronicle Mysteries, with Benjamin Ayers.
What is happening with those two franchises?
Alison Sweeney Talks About Hallmark Mystery Franchises
In the recent TV Shows Ace Exclusive Interview with Alison Sweeney, we asked her about the future of Hannah Swensen/Murder She Baked and Chronicle Mysteries.
This is what she had to say.
I have to tell you, if it is at all possible, I would love to make something like that happen. I love doing the mysteries. So, I am always open to that.
Alison’s first mystery series was Murder She Baked. Based on the Joanne Fluke cozy novels, the premiere episode aired in 2015, and there were a total of five in that series. In 2021, they returned with the series, but it was renamed Hannah Swensen Mysteries. So far, only one of these movies has been made.
As for the Chronicle Mysteries, she created this series with her longtime collaborator Melissa Salmons. Alison was a huge fan of true crime podcasts like Serial and wanted to do a mystery series around podcasts.
So far, They have made five Chronicle Mysteries.
Could Alison Sweeney Be Making New Hallmark Mystery Series?
We then asked if perhaps she and her long-time collaborator, Melissa Salmons had another mystery series in the works. Melissa and Alison created Chronicle Mysteries together, based on Sweeney’s love of true crime podcasts like Serial. Her response included a laugh.
Maybe we will…maybe we…[laughs].
We made sure to point out that there are Sleuthers here who want more mysteries. Alison revealed her passion for Hallmark mysteries.
They are my favorite.
What We Know About Mystery Series
What can Sleuthers make of Alison Sweeney’s statements? First, neither Hannah Swensen nor Chronicle Mysteries have been canceled. If they were canceled, Alison would know.
We have previously reported that several Hallmark mystery series had been axed. First, Alexa PenaVega revealed that the Picture Perfect Mysteries had been canceled. In addition, Danica McKellar revealed that her Matchmaker Mysteries were axed. Lastly, Kellie Martin shared that the Hailey Dean Mysteries were canceled.
Second, there could be another mystery series in the works. The Open By Christmas star was in two different mystery series in 2021. Why not make a third mystery series?
2022 Hallmark Mystery Movies
It should be noted that in 2022, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries only aired five mysteries, and none with Alison Sweeney. Four were new series. They included Curious Caterer with Andrew W. Walker and Nikki DeLoach, Cut, Color, Murder, with Ryan McPartlin and Julie Gonzalo, Francesca Quinn, PI, with Mallory Jansen and Dylan Bruce, and lastly, Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths starring Rhiannon Fish, and Hunter King.
Finally, the only old mystery series that they aired was the last Aurora Teagarden. It is the final because Candace Cameron Bure defected to GAF.

“Murder, She Baked”, is my favorite with the old cast. Hallmark needs to make more episodes of this series.
Love this actress! I have been watching her for years on DOOL and after on Hallmark.. Like anything she does!
My favorite is the Murder She Baked series. But I love everything she is in! She is a great actress!
Love Murder She Baked .
I would like to see more episodes of Murder, She Baked. I want to see her & her cop fiancé get married. I would like to see the other series go on too. I love those shows.
Alison is great in anything she plays in. I love all her shows. Please continue her series.
If I have to choose, it would be the Hannah Swenson Mysteries but why can’t we also see more made of Chronicles? Allison is an excellent actress, has such down home beautiful but wholesome looks that she is great in everything! She’s in the veil series so why not two of her past ones?
I dig the Murder She Baked/Hannah Swenson Mysteries. My wife and I get a kick out of them. Allison Sweeney is fantastic. Hope they do more…
