Netflix’s ‘Murderville’ Unveils Teaser For A Christmas Special
Netflix’s comedic murder-mystery series Murderville is gearing up for Christmas with a special episode for fans. The series premiered on the streamer on February 2022 and has a generally favorable rating. Based on the British sitcom series Murder In Successville, the series is one season in with a total of six episodes. So, what is this new Christmas special about? Keep reading to find out the details!
Murderville Hasn’t Received A Renewal For Season 2
On Friday, the streamer unveiled a teaser trailer for the special titled Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery. The episode is slated to arrive on the platform in December with a 50-minute runtime. It will be a continuation of the first season carrying the story ahead for fans awaiting news of its renewal for another season.

As per ComicBook, the series is a funny take on the generic murder mystery TV shows paired with the exceptional acting skills of Will Arnett who plays Senior Detective Terry Seattle. He is accompanied by a celebrity guest star that is tasked with improvising through the entire scenario. For the upcoming Christmas special, these guest stars will be Disenchanted’s Maya Rudolph and Ozark’s Jason Bateman.
Murderville Guest Stars Don’t Get A Script
In the Christmas special, Terry Seattle will work on a highly critical case along with his two celebrity guest stars trying to figure out who killed Santa. However, the catch in this episode is that the guest stars won’t have any script to work with. So, they really have no idea about the story or what is about to happen to them in the episode. Together with Terry, they have to improvise and work their way through the case. But, at the end of it all, it will be up to them to name Santa’s killer.

For Terry, every day is a new murder case with a new celebrity guest star working with him by his side. The guest stars not being given a script isn’t something new for the Christmas special. The thing that makes it special is the fact that the guest stars have zero ideas of what’s in store for them throughout the episode.

The first season of the series featured some prominent names as the guest cast that include:
- Annie Murphy
- Marshawn Lynch
- Conan O’Brien
- Kumail Nanjiani
- Sharon Stone
- Ken Jeong
When Will The Christmas Special Air On Netflix?
Talking about the series, Arnett said, “It’s like making Law & Order without a script. I do think people liked the idea that they could come in, they didn’t have to learn any dialogue and they could be themselves and just go for a ride. And I have to give these people credit because it’s freakin’ scary as sh*t.”
