‘Today’ Fans Celebrate Return Of Beloved Host
Today fans got a pleasant surprise on Thursday morning’s edition of the daytime talk show. After missing close to a full week of episodes, with no one saying anything about it, Carson Daly made his return. While no one acknowledged where he had been, the show went on as normal and Daly slipped back into his role easily.
Here is a look at Carson’s return to Today and why he might have missed the last week.
Carson Daly returns to Today
Carson Daly had missed close to a full week from the cast of Today. However, on Thursday, he was back at the table and ready to roll again. Al Roker also missed almost the same time, but Carson was back with Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Craig Melvin, and Dylan Dreyer at the main desk.
Carson took control of the Thanksgiving slides before bringing out Martha Stewart. She delivered martinis for everyone to try, which added some fun to the segment. Later in the episode, Carson also led the POPStart segment of the daytime talk show.
While Carson was missing in action, it was Jacob Soboroff who took over the role on Today. That led many fans to wonder where Carson was over the last week. The answer is simple.
Where was Carson Daly for the last week?
Carson Daly is not only the host of Today. He is also the host of the reality singing competition series, The Voice. While NBC prerecorded much of The Voice over the late summer, it has started the live rounds. This is where fans vote for the singers they want to move on to the next round. As the host, Daly has to be on set for every episode of The Voice.
The Voice films its episodes in California while Today tapes its episodes in New York City. There is no way that Carson can get from California after a night’s episode of The Voice to New York for the next morning’s Today episode. Since The Voice airs on Monday and Tuesday nights, the first day that Carson could get back to the morning show is on Thursday.
Season 22 of the reality show kicked off lives on Monday. Next week will also have Monday and Tuesday episodes and this will continue until the finale on December 12 and December 13. This means that fans of Carson on Today will have to settle on him missing the first three days of each week until the singing show concludes its season.
