Of all of the Bringing Up Bates stars, who became a mom at the youngest age? Many of Gil and Kelly Jo Bates’ kids have gotten married in their late teens or early twenties. Kelly Jo had 19 kids herself and had her first child when she was 22 years old. Some of her daughters and daughters-in-law seem to be following in her footsteps by starting their families young or having their kids close in age. For example, Tori Bates Smith has four kids who are four years old and younger. Fans were surprised to learn that she wasn’t the youngest to start a family, however. So, who was?
On Reddit, a Bates family fan shared a list of all of the daughters and daughters-in-law who have at least one kid. They also included Katie Bates Clark, who is due to have her first baby in March when she is 22 years old.

The fan who calculated everyone’s ages at the time of their first children’s births noted that Josie Bates Balka was the youngest. She was one month shy of 20 years old. So, she was still a teen when she had her first baby, Willow.
Nathan Bates’ wife Esther Keyes was 25 years old when she gave birth to their first child Kenna Joy last month.
Alyssa Bates Webster was 20, Tori was a month away from 23, and Erin Bates Paine was 23.
Carlin Bates Stewart and Whitney Bates were both 21.

In response to this list, fans are discussing what stood out to them. Many were shocked to discover that Josie was still technically a teenager when she became a mother. However, since she was married, it wasn’t a big deal in their family. One fan commented, “Wow, I didn’t realize tori was relatively late starting, and Josie was the earliest.”
Another fan added, “The human brain takes until around the age of 25 to fully develop. I find it a little scary that only Esther reached this point before having kids.”
