‘Amazing Race’ Has New EXCITING Time Slot
CBS’s reality show, The Amazing Race 34 premiered on September 21, 2022, following the premiere of Survivor 43. However, the show won’t air in its usual 10/9c timeslot on CBS. Starting November 2, 2022, the reality series will air at 9/8c for the rest of the season. Why is it so? Keep reading to find out the details!
Why Was The Real Love Boat Booted To Paramount+?
The 9/8c time slot was earlier taken up by The Real Love Boat which premiered on October 5, 2022, on CBS. However, the reality show will now be available exclusively on Paramount+. The first four episodes of the show that aired on CBS are already streaming. It was booted to the streaming platform after its ratings started to tank. As per Nielsen’s latest data, The Real Love Boat is averaging 2.1 Million viewers. This puts it behind all other unscripted broadcast programs except for Fox’s Lego Masters and CBS’ Secret Celebrity Renovation.

As per Reality Blurred, the Wednesday 9 p.m. slot puts The Real Love Boat in direct competition with ABC’s Abbott Elementary and NBC’s Chicago Fire. Both these shows are known for bringing consistent ratings and proved to be a big competition for reality shows. While this might be disappointing news for fans, they can watch Survivor 43 and The Amazing Race 34 instead.
CBS’ Survivor & The Amazing Race Will Air Back-To-Back
So, CBS’s long-time iconic shows will now air back-to-back for the first time in the network’s history. Over the two decades that these two shows have been airing, they have never been regularly scheduled on the same night for a complete season. Back in 2019, the Amazing Race 31 did start after the Survivor’s season for a few weeks towards the end.

So, now these Phil Keoghan and Jeff Probst-hosted reality shows will now air back to back. This change will continue for the entirety of their 43rd and 34th seasons respectively.
How Will The Change In Time Slot Affect The Amazing Race?
This comes as good news for The Amazing Race which will surely see an increase in its ratings in days to come. Although people stay awake much longer than they did earlier, The Amazing Race airing late at 10 p.m. did affect its ratings. While 9 p.m. might still seem a tad late for some viewers, it is better than the slot it was offered before. Survivor fans will be hooked to the screen and continue with The Amazing Race.
