Fans Rally To Boycott ‘The Witcher’ After Henry Cavill’s Exit

Ever since the news of Henry Cavill’s exit from The Witcher surfaced, fans have been showcasing their disappointment. So much so, that many are rallying to boycott the show for good. Cavill will continue to play the Geralt of Rivia in the fantasy series’ forthcoming Season 3. However, for the fourth season, he will hand over the responsibility to Liam Hemsworth.

The Witcher Fans Vow To Boycott The Netflix Fantasy Show

On October 29, Netflix issued statements from both Hemsworth and Cavill regarding the replacement. However, the change in casting has been received badly by the fans who took to social media to voice their opinions.

One fan wrote, “Boycott The Witcher comeone bring Henry back.”

Another wrote, “The f***!!! DON’T REPLACE HENRY CAVILL! HE IS GERALT! HE KNOWS HIS CHARACTER MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE!”

“DON,T REPLACE HIIM WITH LIAM HEMSWORTH. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! I will so boycott The Witcher if they really replace him. How can you replace him?” they continued.

A fourth agreed, “Alright we boycott The Witcher.”

Henry Cavill Has A Message For The New Geralt Of Rivia

Although Liam Hemsworth is a great replacement for the character, one fan wrote, “No offense to Liam Hemsworth but I gotta agree not sure I have any interest in a Witcher Series without Henry Cavill. He was perfect in the role. Huge bummer he’s leaving.”

After the news of his departure from the show was announced, Cavill issued a statement to fans who were disappointed.

He wrote, “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season four.”

The Superman actor further announced that Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As per CBR.com, he also stated that he is excited to see Liam’s take on the portrayal of this fascinating character. The 39-year-old also had a message for The Hunger Games actor. He wrote, “Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”

Why Is Henry Cavill Exiting The Witcher?

Although Cavill didn’t provide any reason for his exit, fans speculate that it is due to the DCEU’s involvement. His return as Superman was recently confirmed after the release of Black Adam where he also had a small cameo.

Fans don’t have to bid farewell to the star yet. The Geralt of Rivia will be seen fighting the monsters one more time with Season 3 which is slated to release in Summer 2023. However, Netflix hasn’t yet announced any official release date for the forthcoming season.

Although details of Season 3 are scarce, it is believed that the season will predominately adapt events and characters from Sapkowski’s novel, titled Time Of Contempt. It is the second novel in the core Witcher saga and the fourth book in the series overall.
