Dean Unglert Shares Special Meaning Behind Engagement Date
Bachelor in Paradise alums Dean Unglert and Caelynn Miller-Keyes got engaged after falling in love on Season 6 of the show. Dean and Caelynn have both shared special photos from the proposal. Today, Dean went to Instagram to share some more sentiment behind asking Caelynn to marry him. Keep reading to find out more.
Special sentiment behind Dean Unglert’s proposal
Dean Unglert went to Instagram Friday to share more details behind his proposal to Caelynn. Dean shared that this time of year holds a special meaning for him and not a happy one.
He shared a video of him and Caelynn on their 11-mile hike in Hawaii which would end in Dean getting down on one knee. Throughout the video, he shared sweet captions. One of them was “When the person you’re about to ask to marry you is struggling, you carry her bag for her.”
Dean then told Caelynn where he wanted her to be and said he was setting up his tripod so they could take some cute photos. This is when the proposal went down.
But, why is this time of year special to Dean? On Instagram he said, “on the most beautiful beach in the world i got to ask the most beautiful girl in the world if she’d let me be her husband (she said yes 😁).”
He continued on saying, “it’s been 16 years since i lost my mom. i always thought it’d get easier as time wore on but it hasn’t. something about being an adult just makes me wish she was here even more. every year around this time i get emotional and depressed, i miss her more now than i ever have before.”
Dean finished his post by explaining how now he has the future to look forward to. He said, “i’m so happy to now have this date as a happy memory as well. from now on i’ll be able to find joy in something this time of year, be excited for the future rather than sad about the past, and celebrate love with the woman who may one day be a mother to children of our own.”
Their engagement has been a long time coming
When Dean and Caelynn first got together, he didn’t want to get married. As he fell more in love with Caelynn he changed his mind. They have both been teasing that an engagement was coming sometime this year.
However, nobody knew for sure who would propose first. Caelynn has said she wants them both to have a proposal.
After Dean shared the happy news, Caelyn went to Instagram to also share the news. She shared photos and said, “The hardest and scariest hike I’ve ever done led to the best day of my life. I can’t wait to be velcroed to you forever @deanie_babies 🤍”
