The Real Love Boat is disembarking from CBS. The network has decided not to renew the dating series due to its low ratings. It premiered during the Fall 2022 season, in between the highly anticipated returns of Survivor and The Amazing Race.

However, it wasn’t enough to get people tuning in every week. The show saw a sharp decline in ratings. The network decided to pull the real-life love show from its lineup. This decision was made four episodes into the season.

What’s The Real Love Boat?

The Real Love Boat is a dating series that’s based on the classic one-hour sitcom, The Love Boat. Real-life couple Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell are the co-hosts of the series. They help couples find love aboard a luxury cruise in the Mediterranean. However, the couples will have to undergo some tests and adventures during their time together.

The original scripted series followed in line with The Love Boat. Even the ship’s crew members help the couples with their compatibility and chemistry. The crew includes a captain, cruise director, bartender, and other important roles. Some of them take part in matchmaking or help couples work out their issues.

Ratings for Season 1 premiere

Per TVLine, The Real Love Boat premiered on CBS on Wednesday, October 5 with 2.4 million viewers. It ended up with a 0.3 demo rating. These are the lowest numbers for any of its non-CW premieres this fall. Airing the show in between Survivor and The Amazing Race didn’t give it a boost in ratings.

It only added 20 percent to its total audience. The timeslot didn’t do much to improve its demo number. Some of the CW premieres are doing better this fall season. CBS commands ratings with its signature comedies and reality shows.
