The Real Love Boat from CBS

Fans of 1970s television definitely remember The Love Boat. If you were a fan back in the day, you’ll probably be interested to hear about The Real Love Boat — a brand new dating show that will premiere on CBS later this year.

But what can we expect to see from this new spin on an old classic? Will they keep any old fan-favorite elements from the original show alive? Keep reading to find out what we know.

What can we expect to see when The Real Love Boat sets sail?

The Love Boat may have been a scripted show, but The Real Love Boat is all about dating and competition.

TVLine reports, “The reality series will welcome a group of sexy singles aboard a cruise liner in the Mediterranean, with dates and challenges testing their compatibility. In a nod to the original show, the boat’s crew — including the ‘captain’ and the ‘cruise director’ — will guide the singles along the way and even help play matchmaker.”

In other words, it sounds like the new show plans to keep the spirit of the original alive. It’s more like a fun spinoff with elements from The Love Boat.

“Audiences really connected with the fun and escapism of The Love Boat,” a CBS rep said in an official statement. “The iconic series embodied the many possibilities of people making new, meaningful connections. Reimagining it as a dating show with competition, adventure and romance makes The Real Love Boat an ideal fit for our schedule and viewers.”
