AGT finalist and Tyler Perry collaborator has been confirmed dead at the age of 44. Zuri Craig once competed on American’s Got Talent as a member of the Craig Lewis band. Sadly, the AGT finalist was just 44 years old at the time of his passing. According to multiple outlets, there is a lot of mystery surrounding his death as no information regarding his cause of death has been released.

Per Deadline, his family posted a tribute on his website confirming he passed away on Friday (October 21, 2022).

It is with profound sadness that we announce the transition of our beloved son, brother and friend, Zuri Craig. We thank you in advance for your prayers. Please honor our privacy at this unimaginable time of mourning.”

Gone far too soon, Zuri Craig had created quite a name for himself during his 44 years of life. He was wildly popular during his appearance on AGT back in 2015 alongside his singing partner, Jeffrey Lewis. the Craig Lewis band delivered powerful performances by Mary J. Blige and James Brown songs. That year, Zuri and Jeffrey ended up finishing in fifth place.

Zuri Craig’s career didn’t stop there. He also had the pleasure of being a collaborator of none other than Tyler Perry on several different Madea movies including Madea’s Big Happy Family, Madea Gets a Job, and A Madea Christmas.

Zuri Craig’s official Instagram page as well as the page for the Craig Lewis band have been flooded with condolences and well-wishes from fans. Many have started sharing old photos and video clips of Zuri Craig to remember what an incredible person and performer he was.

One individual penned in a sorrowful tweet: “RIP Zuri Craig. Such a beautiful voice he had, he was actually one of my favorite actors on Madea’s Big Happy Family Play. He will be dearly missed.”

Both AGT fans and Tyler Perry/Madea fans are heartbroken over the death of Zuri Craig and hope he didn’t suffer too much prior to his death.
