Netflix Greenlights Yeon Sang-ho’s thriller series ‘The Bequeathed’
Yeon Sang-ho, the famed Korean director of Netflix’s Hellbound and Train To Busan has another thriller series in the pipeline. The streaming platform has greenlit his upcoming thriller series titled The Bequeathed. Sang-ho will serve as the writer and creator of the series while he will be assisted by Min Hong-nam in the director’s chair. When does The Bequeathed premiere on Netflix? What is it about? Netflix’s The Bequeathed Stars Kim Hyun-joo In The Lead Role
The series stars Kim Hyun-joo in the lead role who was also a part of the Hellbound series. She is cast as Yun Seo-ha, a woman who inherits some family land after her uncle’s death. However, things take a weird turn after she finds herself involved in strange events regarding a burial ground.

In the series, Ryu Kyung-soo will portray the role of Seo-ha’s younger half-brother. On the other hand, The Bequeathed also stars Park Byung-eun and Park Hee-soon as members of the local police force as reported by Games Radar.
The show is a suspense drama that focuses on the basics of the Korean traditional culture of family burial grounds. Sang-ho’s upcoming series is produced by RedPeter and WowPoint Films.
Hellbound Dethrones Squid Game As The Most-Watched Series
Yeon’s previous Netflix project, Hellbound, was based on his animated series of the same name that centers on supernatural beings appearing out of nowhere to condemn people to hell. The series premiered on Netflix in November 2021 and quickly became the most-watched Netflix series globally for a week within 24 hours of its premiere. It successfully knocked Squid Game off its top spot. The series received a renewal for the second season last month during the Netflix TUDUM 2022.

The director also has another Netflix show currently under production titled Parasyte: The Grey. It is an adaptation of the popular sci-fi horror manga titled Parasyte. The series was announced this summer and will star Koo Kyo-hwan, Jeon So-nee, and Lee Jung-hyu in the lead roles.
So, when does The Bequeathed premiere on Netflix? As of now, the series doesn’t have a release date.
Yeon Sang-ho’s First Live-Action Movie Was Train To Busan
Yeon is also known for creating top-notch animation targeted at adults with a love for controversial, dark themes. His creations explore social realism and human nature with a unique twist. His first live-action movie Train To Busan trails a story that happens on a train headed to Busan. However, things take a wild turn after a zombie apocalypse breaks out in the country and threatens the passengers’ safety. Given how the movie received high praise from both critics and viewers, it received a standalone sequel titled Peninsula in 2020.
