When Does Disney+ Anime ‘Tatami Time Machine Blues’ Premiere?
Disney+ formally announced the premiere of one of its first anime acquisitions titled Tatami Time Machine Blues. This dark comedy anime series is a part of Disney+’s larger slate of anime titles slated to premiere in November. The series originally premiered on the streaming platform back on September 14. However, access was only available in select overseas territories. The upcoming premiere gives US subscribers access to this anime.

Tatami Time Machine Blues Premieres With An Exclusive Episode
As officially announced, the series will premiere on the streaming platform on Wednesday, November 9. This is the first season of the series and it will feature an exclusive sixth episode. This particular episode wasn’t a part of the theatrical compilation version of the anime that started screening in Japan on September 30.

Disney+’s synopsis of the series reads:
“It is August 12th. After the remote control to his boarding house’s only air conditioning unit is inadvertently destroyed by spilled cola, “I” devises a plan to return to yesterday in a time machine to recover the remote before it breaks. However, his prankster friend Ozu cannot resist playing with past events, even if it means bringing the universe to the brink of destruction. Now “I” finds himself racing through time to avoid disaster.”
Science Saru Is In Charge Of Tatami Time Machine Blues
Directed by Shingo Natsume of Sonny Boy fame, this series is led by the production team Science SARU. As per Crunchyroll, he is taking over Masaaki Yuasa, the director of the original The Tatami Galaxy series. Each episode in Tatami Time Machine Blues is of 20 minutes.

The upcoming series is a sequel to Morimi’s The Tatami Galaxy novel. This spinoff is inspired by Makoto Ueda’s stage play Summer Time Machine Blues. It combines the elements taken from the stage play as well as the novel to make a compelling storyline.
Funimation Licenses The Tatami Galaxy Anime Series
The Tatami Galaxy also inspired an anime series that aired from April 22, 2010, to July 1, 2010, with a total of 11 episodes. With Madhouse Studio in charge, the series’ licensees include Siren Visual in Australia, Anime Limited in the UK, and Funimation in North America. The series originally aired on Japan’s Fuji TV and was directed by Masaaki Yuasa.

The original series has also inspired an anime movie titled Night Is Short, Walk On Girl which is a spiritual sequel based on a novel of the same name. Toho released the feature film on April 7, 2017. The Disney+ series will be yet another rendition of this tale.
