Netflix’s The Crown might have just crossed the line with its latest decision for the show. The makers’ plan to recreate a tragic moment from one of the Royal Family members’ past is now facing backlash. The Crown Season 5 Tagged Insensitive For Its Wild Plotlines
The Crown plans to recreate the tragic death of Princess Diana in Paris. This move comes as the series is already facing increasing anger over its conspiracy-driven plot lines. It was also charged with the insensitivity tag for going wild so soon after Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

With Season 5 soon to premiere on November 9, the makers are also under fire for scenes that suggest that Prince Philip allegedly had an affair with one of his female friends.
The Crown Crew Members Pushing Back On New Ideas
However, that is not the end to it. As per The Sun, there are even more harrowing and graphic scenes to make it to Season 5. As per a source from the set of The Crown, “To be going back to Paris and turning Diana’s final days and hours into a drama feels very uncomfortable.”

“Finally, some of the crew members are pushing back on the ideas being tabled. The show always tried to present a fictional version of royal history with as much sensitivity as possible. But lately, as things get close to the present day, it feels harder to strike that balance. With some of those moments still so fresh and upsetting, it feels as though a line is being crossed. Some production staff are now starting to speak up about their feelings,” they explained.
The Exact Crash Impact Won’t Be Shown On Season 5
The soon-to-be-shot scenes will focus on Diana’s final trip to Paris which led to her demise in 1997. It will cover the days and hours before and after the ill-fated car smash that happened in an underpass. As per Netflix, the exact moment of the crash impact won’t be a part of the show.

However, sources close to Prince William revealed that it is expected that he will be angered by this. His mother’s final days being reproduced for the sake of entertainment might not bode well with him. This big-budget drama is also facing criticism over some new scenes that allege the now King had a conversation with his late mother suggesting she was out of touch and too old.

A spokesperson for the Netflix drama said, “Series 5 is a fictional dramatization, imagining what could have happened behind closed doors.”
